We’re here to support and guide, ensuring every adoption leads to a lifetime of love and happiness.

ADOPTION PROCESS

  • Our detailed consideration form has been a major factor in our 97% adoption success rate. This form allows our experienced team to match you with the right compatible companion to fit your family dynamic and needs. A completed consideration form is required prior to hands on visitation with any pets.

  • We typically schedule most visits for Saturdays between 12pm-4pm, but we are flexible and can accommodate visits throughout the week. We suggest planning for at least a 45-minute visit.

  • We strongly suggest for the whole family to come visit your new pet! You’ll spend time with the animal and gauging how the animal interacts with your family. An Adoption Counselor will go over your completed form and answer questions you may have regarding the pet of interest as well as informing you of the pets history, temperament and specific needs such as exercise requirements, pending medical needs (if any), outdoor cats vs indoor cats etc. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption.

  • If it is mutually agreed that this animal is the right fit for your family, you’ll adopt the pet under an SFA Adoption Contract. An adoption fee is paid at this time and helps cover the cost of spay/neuter, vaccinations, parasite testing/treatment, grooming, housing and more. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole so we can continue to help more animals in need!

In the event multiple families are interested in the same animal, we will need a few days to make the best decision possible and will notify each family with out decision. Typically, you’ll be able to pick up your newest addition to your family within the week!

  • You will receive an Adoption Packet with all the proper information to care for your new pet at home! You’ll be provided with all the Vet work as well as ample resources about food, toxic preventatives, over vaccinating, exercise, and more. You’ll be sent home with a couple days of food that your pet has been eating at our facility.

We want you to understand how difficult it is for SFA to have a companion returned to our facility because he or she does not work out in the adoptive home. We cannot be 100%, but together we can try! This is why we are thorough with our adoption process and ask that you are through and thoughtful throughout the entire process as well.
